Every piece in this collection is knotted by hand in cotton, in Thailand, by the Akha women of Asha village near Chiang Rai. Nothing here is imported, rebranded or mass produced. When you give one of these, you are giving something a person made, and we can tell you who.

One collection, four occasions: keepsakes to take home, favours for a wedding, gifts for a retirement or farewell, and welcome gifts for guests and clients. The same handmade pieces, chosen for the occasion and the quantity you need.

Made by Akha Women in Chiang Rai

Our pieces are made through AKHA MA-DE, the social program run by Macrame by Nicha in Asha village, 30 minutes from Chiang Rai city. The program launched in 2021 and supports the livelihoods of more than five Akha families.

The women work from their own village, on their own schedule, at a fair rate per piece. That is the point of the program: income that does not require leaving home or leaving the community.

What Each Piece Means

The Elephant

The elephant is inseparable from Thai culture, standing for strength and wisdom. A white elephant traditionally represents royal power and prosperity. Knotted in cotton with a premium hook, available with a label or in a gift box.

Phuang Malai

One of Thailand's most recognisable symbols. The phuang malai garland is traditionally made from fresh flowers for offerings, welcomes and thanks. We reimagined it in cotton so it lasts, as a tricolour piece that works as a keyring, a mirror charm or a small lucky gift.

Muay Thai Mongkhon

The mongkhon is the headband worn by Muay Thai fighters before a bout, for protection and honour. It explains something about Thailand to whoever receives it, which is why it travels better than an airport magnet.

The Turtle

Sea turtles are found on islands across Thailand. The earth turtle is auspicious and has historically been offered to the king as a gesture of respect, longevity and prosperity.

Pla Ta Pian, the Thai Fish

The fish-shaped pla ta pian is a traditional symbol of prosperity, abundance and protection, long hung in homes or near a cradle to bring good fortune and keep children safe.

The Sea Collection

The Whale Tail, the Little Squid, the Ship's Wheel, the Sea Shell, the Star Fish and the Sea Turtle, each as a keyring or a fridge magnet, for anyone bringing home a piece of the Thai coast.

Coasters, Napkin Rings and Bracelets

For the table rather than the keyring. Our Vintage Coasters and Tithati Coasters come as a pair and are hand washable. The Ullulita Napkin Rings are machine washable on a stainless ring. The Signature Bracelet carries an engraved silver medallion and is machine washable.

Malai Glin Rak

Cotton and wood, in a wooden box, in eight colours that each carry a meaning: gold for prosperity, silver for purity, red for vitality, beige for grounding, pink for tenderness, sky for grace, green for growth, blue for devotion. Choose the colour to match the message.

Wedding Favours

The phuang malai is already a Thai wedding object, which makes it the natural favour for guests. Small cotton pieces work where printed trinkets do not: they are keepable, they photograph well on a place setting, and nobody leaves them behind on the table.

Choose one design across the whole guest list, or mix colours by table. Malai Glin Rak in a wooden box suits the parents, the officiant and the principal guests, while keyrings and magnets suit the wider list. Tell us your guest count and we will quote per piece.

Retirement and Farewell Gifts

A retirement gift has to carry more weight than a keyring. For honouring a colleague at the end of a long career, the malai tier is the right register: Malai Glin Rak in its wooden box, or a larger piece from our malai range.

The same applies to farewells, transfers and long-service recognition. Colour matters here. Gold and yellow read as Thai and celebratory, red reads as Chinese and festive, and black is for mourning, so we will steer you away from it for a happy occasion.

Corporate Gifts, Event Giveaways and Welcome Kits

For conferences, delegations, staff gifts and client thank-yous, these pieces solve the problem branded merchandise cannot: they are made by named people in a named village, so the story survives being repeated by whoever hands them out.

Hotels are replacing chocolates and plastic amenities with locally made keepsakes, and a cotton piece made by a named Akha maker is exactly that. Small enough for a turndown tray, substantial enough for a VIP welcome, and it survives the flight home in a guest's suitcase.

If you are buying for someone from abroad, these are the pieces that work. They carry a story you can tell in one sentence, they are light and flat and unbreakable for hand luggage, and they are priced to give several rather than one grand gesture.

How to Tell a Thai Souvenir Is Really Made in Thailand

Most of what is sold as a Thai souvenir is not made in Thailand. The clearest example is elephant pants: around 30 THB imported, around 300 THB when genuinely made here. Ten times the price for the same look. Price alone tells you a lot.

Look for a named maker, a village or workshop you can locate, natural materials that vary slightly between pieces, and a seller who can answer where and by whom it was made. Cotton, Not Plastic

Our pieces are made primarily from cotton, combined with wood and other natural materials depending on the design. Each one is knotted and assembled by hand, so no two are identical.

This matters more than it sounds. The souvenir aisle and the favour aisle both run on moulded plastic and resin that is thrown away within a year. A cotton piece is washable, keeps its shape, and is still there in ten years.

Our work has been recognised with the UN Women WEPs Award for Women's Empowerment in the SME category in 2024, the EXO Foundation Gold Prize 2025 in the Community Empowerment category, and a place as Featured Designer at the UNESCO Creative Cities Showcase at ICONSIAM in 2025.

These awards are about the same thing this collection is about: keeping the craft alive, keeping the income in the community, and being able to show our work.

Pieces ship across Thailand and internationally. Most of what we make is made to order, so a piece showing as sold out is rarely unavailable, it just needs a lead time.
