What kinds of Christmas decorations are there?

Christmas decorations fall into several types depending on how you use them. These are the ones we make, all hand knotted, with no plastic, and they can be used again every year.

Auspicious and Thai motif ornaments

Hanging pieces that carry an auspicious meaning in Thai belief. They work on the tree and on the front door, and they can stay up after the season instead of going back in a box. The Christmas Phuang Malai (฿199), the Muay Thai mongkhon (฿179), the pla ta pian Thai fish (฿199) and Santa's elephant (฿229).

Surprise ornaments

Ornaments that open, so you can hide a message, a small gift. Hang it on the tree and let the other person open it themselves. Well suited to office gift draws and staff gifts. Santa's Sock (฿199), Santa's Mug (฿199) and Santa's Bag (฿179).

Character ornaments

The characters of the season, hand knotted. For homes with children, and for trees in schools and offices. Santa Claus (฿199), Rudolph and Dasher, the Christmas reindeer (฿199), Mister Jack the Snowman (฿159) and the Christmas angel (฿159).

Candy ornaments

Sweets and festive treats made in cotton. You get the classic Christmas look without anything melting, without attracting ants, and you keep them for next year. Candy canes (฿159), wrapped sweets (฿179) and the red lollipop (฿159).

Rattan baubles and hanging balls

The shape everyone pictures first when they think of a Christmas tree, woven in rattan instead of blown in glass. Nothing shatters on a tile floor, nothing needs wrapping in newspaper at the end of the season, and the open weave catches the tree lights from the inside. The rattan Christmas baubles (฿159) come in three colours, gold, silver and red, so you can run one colour through the whole tree or mix all three.

Stars and snowflakes

The geometric side of a Christmas tree, and the pieces that carry the tree top. They sit well on their own in a window or on a wall, which is why they are the ones people leave up longest. Ornaments with a bell, for a tree that sounds

A tree that makes a sound when someone walks past it, or when a child touches a branch. A few bell pieces spread through the tree are enough, they do not need to be everywhere. Ribbons and bows for the branch tips

Tied at the end of a branch rather than hung from it, so the outline of the tree keeps its shape instead of drooping under weight. They also fill the gaps a tree always has on one side. The Christmas ribbon bow (฿229).

Natural material ornaments

Made from cotton, wood and sustainable materials, with no plastic and no glitter. For households cutting festive waste, and for companies that need a gift whose origin can be traced. The wooden bead stars (฿209).

Christmas rings

A single knotted hoop, smaller and lighter than a wreath. It hangs flat against a branch, a window catch or a door handle, and because there is nothing inside the ring the tree lights read straight through it. Santa's Ring (฿159) and the premium Santa's Ring (฿199).

Christmas garlands

The long piece, run along a mantelpiece, a stair rail or the top of a doorway rather than hung from a branch. One garland does more for a room than a dozen small ornaments, because it draws a line the eye follows. The wooden bead Christmas garland (฿890).

Wreath ornaments

The wreath, in the size that hangs on a branch. Between 8 and 9.5 cm across, so it still reads as a wreath from the other side of the room while sitting on the tree with everything else. Hang three or four at different heights and the tree gains a depth that single ornaments never give it, and each one moves to a window catch, a cabinet knob or the back of a dining chair when you want the rest of the house to match. Christmas table decorations

Pet Christmas ornaments

Ornaments personalised with a name

Any ornament can be made with a name on it, your children's names, a couple's names, or a company name for a corporate tree. Each one becomes the piece that family keeps and rehangs every year, and it is the version people photograph. Custom names are made to order, so allow extra time.

How to decorate, by the size of your space

• A condo or a small room. You do not need a tree. Use 5 to 10 ornaments on a bare branch, a curtain rail or the wall.
• A home with a 150 cm tree. Around 20 to 30 pieces. Mix character ornaments with candy ones so the tree has both colour and a story.
• A tree of 180 cm and above. 40 pieces or more, graded by size, the largest at the bottom and the smallest at the top.
• Windows, shelves and the dining table. One wreath ornament on a window catch or a cabinet knob carries that corner of the room on its own.
• Offices and shops. Repeat the same design several times so it reads as deliberate, then put one feature piece at the entrance.
