15 cool gift ideas for yoChristmas Gifts in Thailand 2026: Handmade Cotton Gifts, With Pricesu and your loved ones this Christmas 🎁
Almost every guide to Christmas gifts in Thailand has the same hole in it. Ten ideas, nice photographs, and not a single price anywhere on the page.
Which is understandable, because the people writing them do not sell anything, so they genuinely do not know what any of it costs.
We are Macrame by Nicha, and we make handmade cotton Christmas gifts in Chiang Rai.
Discover our Christmas Set Gifts here
Every piece on this page is knotted by hand by Akha women in Asha village, Mae Yao district, and the 2026 collection runs to 66 pieces. Ornaments sit between THB 159 and THB 269, table pieces at THB 490, and gift sets at THB 1,472 and THB 2,596.
The short answer:
- If you want something already boxed and ready to hand over, go straight to the gift sets. Eight pieces at THB 1,472, fourteen at THB 2,596. These are the only things here that need no explanation when the wrapping comes off.
- If you have around THB 500, buy table pieces rather than decorations. Coasters and napkin rings at THB 490 a pair get used all year, not just in December.
- If the gift is going home in a suitcase, pick the Thai motif ornaments. Cotton, light, unbreakable, and they pack flat. A Muay Thai mongkhon on a Christmas tree in Europe is a much better story than a fridge magnet.
- If what you actually need is food, coffee or ceramics, we do not sell any of that, and there is a section near the bottom where we say what we would buy instead.
Christmas gifts in Thailand, with the price next to each one

Every piece in this table is ours, handmade in cotton, and the prices are the published shop prices. Organised by what you are trying to do rather than by who you are buying for, because in practice that is the decision people are actually stuck on.

|---|---|---|
| A gift that is boxed and ready to give | Classic Christmas Gift Set, 8 pieces | THB 1,472 |

| One larger single piece with presence | Straw hat ornament, premium Christmas wreath | THB 269 to 390 |

Why this Christmas gift list is different

Look at what else comes up for handmade Christmas gifts in Thailand. Experience lists you cannot wrap. Marketplace pages aggregating sellers nobody has met. Tour company blogs. Almost none of it comes from someone who has actually made the thing, and almost none of it will tell you what anything costs.
We make ours, so we know what each piece costs, how long it takes to knot, and what it looks like in somebody's hands thirty seconds after they open it. That is the whole basis of this list.
Two things follow from that. The first is that the prices are here, on the page, next to the item. The second is that we will tell you where we are the wrong answer, because a gift list where the writer's own products win every category is not a gift list, it is a catalogue with paragraphs.
What we sell is cotton, knotted by hand, one piece at a time. Not injection moulded, not printed. If you want to work out for yourself what counts as genuinely handmade before you spend anything, we set out the tests in our guide to handmade Christmas ornaments and who actually makes them.
Christmas gift sets, boxed and ready to give
If you only read one section, read this one. A gift set solves the problem that a single ornament does not, which is that it looks like a gift the moment the box opens. There is nothing to explain and no apology to make.
- Classic Christmas Gift Set, 8 pieces, THB 1,472. The one we recommend most often. Enough to dress a small tree in a condo entirely from one box, and enough pieces that opening it takes a minute rather than a second.
- Premium Christmas Gift Set, 14 pieces, THB 2,596. This is the family gift. It belongs to a household rather than to one person, which makes it the right choice when you are giving to a couple, or to friends who host.
There is a third set, 55 pieces at THB 10,225, which is really a whole tree rather than a gift, and we mention it here only so you know it exists.
A note on the gift box itself, since this is where most gift set buying goes wrong. A boxed set works because the presentation does half the work. If you are giving one of ours and you want it to land harder, tie a single ornament to the outside of the parcel instead of hiding everything inside. People see and feel the cotton before they open anything, and that is the exact moment handmade beats factory made.
Christmas gifts under THB 500 that do not feel cheap
THB 500 is an awkward amount of money. It is enough to buy something bad that looks briefly expensive, which is how most people end up spending it.
Our advice is to stop thinking about decorations at this level and start thinking about things that go on a table.
- Christmas coasters, THB 490 a pair. The strongest single item we sell in this band. They get picked up on ordinary Tuesdays, not just on the 25th of December.
- Christmas napkin rings, THB 490 a pair. This is the group hotels and restaurants ask us about most often, which tells you something about how they read on a laid table.
- Malai Glin Rak, THB 499. A cotton malai in the Thai style that holds a scent, with an engraving option on the product itself. If you want one gift that is both Thai and useful in a room, this is it. Message us on LINE and we will walk you through it.
If you want one larger single piece instead of a pair, the straw hat ornament is THB 390 and the premium Christmas wreath is THB 269. Both are big enough not to look small when they come out of the paper.
Where we are thin, honestly: between THB 269 and THB 490 we do not have much, and between THB 500 and THB 1,400 we have less again. If your number lands in one of those gaps, tell us and we will say straight out whether we have anything that fits or whether you should build a small stack of pieces instead.
Gifts that are actually Thai, for someone back home
This is the section that matters most if you live here, or if you are visiting and going home in December. The test for a gift like that is not whether it is nice. It is whether it could have come from anywhere else.
Most things that pass that test are heavy, breakable, or both. Cotton is neither, which is the quiet advantage of Thai handicrafts made in fabric rather than in clay or wood. These pack flat, survive a suitcase, and weigh nothing.
- Muay Thai mongkhon ornament, THB 179. The most photographed piece in the collection. Nobody outside Thailand has one of these on a tree.
- Pla Ta Pian fish ornament, THB 199. The woven fish every Thai person grows up with, moved onto a Christmas tree.
- Christmas elephant, THB 229. The obvious one, done properly rather than as a souvenir shop trinket.
- Santa's flip flop, THB 179. Christmas as it is actually experienced in Thailand, at thirty degrees.
- Christmas turtle, THB 199, and the Christmas squid, THB 199. Two that work for absolutely anyone.
- Premium Christmas malai, THB 229. The garland form people see every day here and never get to take home.
If you are buying several to hand out when you land, these are also the pieces that need no explanation. You say where it was made and who made it, and that is the whole story told.
Small gifts and stocking fillers
The rest of the ornament range sits between THB 159 and THB 199, which makes it the natural place to look for a teacher's gift, a small thank you, a classroom exchange, or something to go in a stocking.
At THB 159 there is Christmas mushrooms, the Christmas brezel and Rudolph Junior. At THB 179 there is Mister Snowball and The Snow Sisters.
At THB 199 the range opens right up: Santa's Mug, the Christmas stocking, holly berries, the Christmas rabbits and the premium snowflake, alongside Nong Chai Santa, Snowoman, the Christmas dwarf and Santa's ring at the same price. There is also a Christmas ribbon at THB 229 that doubles as decoration for the parcel it arrives in.
One honest limit. A single ornament at THB 199 is a lovely small gift and a poor large one. It works as a thank you, as a teacher's gift, as a stocking filler, or tied to the outside of something else. It does not work as the whole gift for your partner, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. For that, go back up to the sets.
The compensation is that these outlive almost everything else on a gift list. The chocolate is gone by the first week of January. A cotton ornament goes back in a box and comes out again next December. If you want to know where each piece should hang once the box is open, we set the order out in our guide to decorating the tree, the table and the rest of the house.
Christmas gifts for pets
Barely anyone thinks of this, which is exactly why it works. If you know the person you are buying for has a cat or a dog, this is the shortcut.
- Christmas cat collar, THB 229.
- Christmas dog collar, THB 229.
It works for a reason beyond cuteness. This is a THB 229 gift that the recipient photographs and posts, and very few gifts at that price do that. If you are unsure about sizing, ask us before you order.
Christmas gift ideas we do not sell
We make one kind of thing. So when the right answer for you sits outside our shop, here is what we would buy instead. All of these are objects you can wrap, and all of them are things we would be happy to receive.
- Coffee beans from a small northern Thai roaster. Excellent if you know the person drinks coffee, and completely wasted if you do not. High reward, high risk.
- Thai single origin chocolate. Genuinely local, genuinely good, and it disappears within a fortnight. Choose this when you want the gift to be enjoyed rather than kept.
- A handwoven cotton scarf from a northern weaving cooperative. The closest thing to what we do that we do not make. Buy it from a cooperative rather than a tourist stall and the difference in quality is not subtle.
- A celadon or benjarong ceramic piece. Beautiful, unmistakably Thai, and the reason people wrap things in socks in their luggage. Only pick this if it is staying in Thailand.
- A good insulated bottle. The safest object in this list. Nobody dislikes one, nobody is thrilled by one. Choose it when not missing matters more than impressing.
- A hardback notebook and one decent pen. Works across ages, jobs and languages, and it is one of the few gifts that improves the more the recipient uses it.
- A curry paste or spice set from a market rather than a supermarket. The best value gift to send home on this whole page, as long as you check what the destination country allows in.
The pattern, if you look at it, is that most of that list is gone by the end of January. That is not a criticism, it is just the trade. Ours stay in a box and come back out every year, and that is the actual difference, not the price.
If you would rather buy in person than online, we compared twenty places to shop across the city in our guide to where to buy Christmas ornaments in Bangkok and across Thailand. And if you are buying on behalf of a company rather than for yourself, the considerations change completely, so we keep that on a separate page for business buyers.
Who makes these

We have kept this until the end on purpose. A gift should be chosen because of what it is, not because of the story attached to it.
But once you have decided, this belongs in the picture. Every ornament on this page is knotted by hand by Akha women in Asha village, Mae Yao district, Chiang Rai, through our Akha Ma-De programme, which exists to create paid work for women in the Akha community.
Akha Ma-De took first prize in the SME category at the 2024 UN Women Thailand WEPs Awards.
In practical terms, it means that when somebody asks where the gift came from, you can answer with the name of a village rather than the name of a shopping centre.
Frequently asked questions about Christmas gifts in Thailand
What is a good handmade Christmas gift in Thailand
Something made here, in a material that travels. Our handmade cotton ornaments run from THB 159 to THB 269 and are knotted by hand by Akha women in Chiang Rai, and the Thai motif pieces such as the Muay Thai mongkhon at THB 179 and the Pla Ta Pian fish at THB 199 are the ones people remember, because they could not have come from anywhere else. If you want a single gift that needs no explanation, the eight piece gift set at THB 1,472 does that job.
Where can I buy Christmas gifts in Bangkok
There are seasonal fairs and markets if your dates line up, and there is ordering online for the rest of the year. Bangkok has no permanent handmade ornament shop, which is why handmade usually means either a fair weekend or an online order. Our full 2026 collection is 66 pieces, and the details are on our Christmas ornaments page.
How much does a Christmas gift set cost in Thailand
Ours are THB 1,472 for the eight piece Classic Christmas Gift Set and THB 2,596 for the fourteen piece Premium Christmas Gift Set, with a 55 piece set at THB 10,225 for anyone dressing a whole tree. Those are published prices, not estimates, and every piece inside is handmade in cotton.
What Thai gifts are easiest to take home in a suitcase
Cotton, every time. Ceramics and carved wood are the classic Thai gifts and they are also the ones that arrive broken or eat your baggage allowance. Cotton ornaments at THB 159 to THB 229 pack flat, weigh almost nothing, and cannot break. The Thai motif pieces are the ones worth the space.
Are handmade Christmas gifts worth it compared to shop bought ones
For decorations, yes, because they are kept and reused rather than thrown out in January. For consumables, no, and we would rather say so. If the person you are buying for wants coffee or chocolate, buy them coffee or chocolate. Our advantage is that a cotton ornament goes back in its box and comes out again next December, for years.
Last thing
Most Christmas gift guides for Thailand will show you ten lovely photographs and leave you no closer to knowing what anything costs. This one has the prices on it because we set them, and it has the honest limits on it because we would rather you bought the right thing once than the wrong thing twice.
If you are still stuck, tell us who it is for and roughly what you want to spend, and we will point at the piece that fits. And if the best answer is not in our shop, we will say that too.
