How do you care for a phuang malai?
Caring for your garland is what keeps it beautiful and keeps it looking new for years. A phuang malai is a treasured object in a home or on an altar, so it deserves attention. Here is how to look after yours properly.
- Handle it gently. Always treat the garland with a light touch. Dried flowers and cotton are delicate and damage easily. Keep handling to a minimum.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight. Direct sun dries flowers and fades cotton. Keep your garland somewhere dry and cool.
- Keep it dry. Damp causes mould and mildew, which damages dried flowers and cotton. Avoid storing the garland anywhere with high humidity.
- Dust it regularly. Dust and dirt settle on dried flowers and cotton and make a piece look dull. Brush it lightly with a soft brush or a cloth to lift dust and cobwebs away.
Cared for properly, your garland becomes a treasured object in your home or on your altar for many years.
