Icicles on Santa’s House 🥶

Sometimes it gets so cold that you can see icicles hanging from Santa’s house in Finland.

They form when snow melts in the sunlight and the water freezes again, sometimes leaving hundreds of sparkling icicles all across the roof!

This classic icicle shape later became a traditional Christmas decoration 🎄 and looks especially beautiful hanging from the branches of a Christmas tree.

Visit Santa Claus’ House: What Does It Look Like and What Is It Made Of?

The Christmas Stalactic - Christmas Icicle - Christmas Tree Decoration - Macrame by Nicha - Christmas decoration

We all know the traditional story that Santa Claus lives in the far north, surrounded by magical forests covered in snow (The Snowy Star). In Christmas stories, he also has a toy workshop and a stable for his reindeer, looked after by elves and other little helpers. In this article, we take a playful look inside Santa’s home: is it a huge house or a small cozy cabin like the ones we see in cartoons? What might it be made of? And is there anywhere in Thailand with a similar atmosphere?

Inside Santa Claus’ Home: A Scandinavian-Style House Surrounded by Forest

The Christmas Stalactic - Christmas Icicle - Christmas Tree Decoration - Macrame by Nicha  In cartoons and Christmas stories, Santa is often shown living in a cozy cabin covered in white snow. His home is usually imagined in the far north, surrounded by rows of pine trees (The Pine Tree) covered in snow, creating a magical white landscape around the house.

The exterior can be imagined in a Scandinavian style: a single-story house with a small porch for relaxing and enjoying the view. The steep roof is covered in snow, with beautiful icicles hanging from the edges. These natural ice formations become decorations of their own and have inspired many Christmas ornaments, including icicles, Santa figures, Christmas balls, and colorful ribbons.

Inside, the house is imagined as warm and cozy despite the frozen landscape outside. A small Christmas tree sits in the corner of the main room, while Santa’s bedroom is filled with blankets and festive details. In Christmas stories, Santa spends time resting here before heading back to his toy workshop to prepare gifts for Christmas Eve.

A Place in Thailand That Can Remind You of Santa’s Winter World

Thailand may not have snow-covered pine forests like the far north, but the northern provinces offer cool weather and beautiful natural scenery. One place that can create a similarly mysterious and magical feeling is Tham Lod Cave in Pang Mapha, Mae Hong Son. The cave is famous for its river, dramatic rock formations, stalactites, and cool atmosphere, making it an impressive destination for visitors looking for a very different side of Thailand.

And that brings our playful visit to Santa Claus’ house to an end. For the coming Christmas season, icicle ornaments can bring a little touch of Santa’s snowy world to your tree. They also pair beautifully with other charming decorations such as Forest'Mush, snowflakes, The Christmas Bell, and Christmas wreaths.
