Avaha comes from the Pali āvāha, "taking in marriage". This wall hanging tells that moment in hand-knotted cotton: a bride holding her bouquet and a groom in his bow tie, side by side at the heart of the piece.

How do you care for Avaha Wedding?
A little care keeps the couple and their flowers looking their best for years.
- Handle it gently. The little couple and the fringes are delicate; touch them lightly.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight. Sun fades both cotton and dried flowers.
- Keep it dry. Humidity damages dried flowers, so avoid bathrooms and damp rooms.
- Dust it regularly. Brush the cotton lightly with a soft brush, and touch the dried flowers as little as possible.
Avaha: a Pali word for a wedding
In Pali, the language of the Buddhist scriptures read in Thailand, āvāha means taking in marriage. Its partner word, vivāha, means giving in marriage: two sides of the same day.
Buddhist texts also used āvāhamaṅgala, an auspicious taking in marriage, as one of the usual words for a wedding.
Avaha Wedding carries that meaning into the couple's home: two small figures in cotton, a bride holding a bouquet of purple flowers and a groom in a black bow tie, framed by knots and a bunch of dried flowers.
It suits a wedding, a first or tenth anniversary, a gift for your husband or wife, or a newly married couple moving into their first home. It can even carry a proposal: hide the ring in it and let them find it.
