Heritage & Inspiration

As Siam modernized and expanded its international connections under King Chulalongkorn, floral artisans drew inspiration from Western circular chandeliers, transforming flat Thai floral hangings into three-dimensional creations known as “Kom Raya”.

We believe the cost of this intricate work, combined with the short life of fresh flowers, contributed to its total disappearance. It can still be seen suspended from the bows of royal barges during the Royal Barge Procession.
