As an Ojibwe grandmother, I was fortunate to learn the ancient art of dream catcher making from my own grandmother. The Unity Dream Catcher holds a special place in my heart, as it symbolizes the strong bond and solidarity of our people, the Ojibwe.
In the past and to this day, our families and our community has depended heavily on this unity and solidarity to survive, whether it be hunting, farming, protecting the village from intruders, or building tipis. We have always relied on each other. And even today, it is normal to share the tasks. The Unity Dreamcatcher was created to celebrate and honor this eternal bond, which probably saved our people and our culture.
This Unity dreamcatcher is handcrafted with care. We have incorporated a labradorite stone in the middle to give it a deeper meaning. This stone is known for its powerful healing properties, and is believed to promote unity, strength and protection. It is also said to bring good luck and prosperity.
I am proud to pass on my knowledge and skills to my apprentice, Nicha, who is now able to create personalized dreamcatchers that perfectly match the energy of the person receiving them.
